A blank piece of paper can turn into a million different things once you add images and typography. You can give it a voice that can change nations or it can become a statement that sets trends.
I can give you the clean, polished and the very corporate version of myself but I don’t want to. I don’t see a company or brand I look beyond that to see who the person behind it is, because telling that story to your future client is what will create trust and a solid foundation. That is why I want to give you the real version of my experience as a designer.
My earliest memory of design was in the form of a children’s series where the main character was part of the school newspaper, for some reason that looked so thrilling to me. I started creating my very own little newspaper of things happening around me and that turned into my friends becoming my readers and asking me to create copies for them to read at home.
It was so exciting to be creative and also tell a story at the same time. I knew from there that I wanted to be in the publishing industry. Fast forward to 2011 when I went to study graphic design. I was fortunate enough to get a job at Caxton Newspapers in 2012 and became the layout artist for their motoring publication called Autodealer.
In 2013 I became part of the production team and added another title alongside layout artist and was now a graphic designer too. I absolutely loved the fact that I was able to do layout (my first love) as well as designing adverts simultaneously.
In 2016 I was ready to broaden my horizons for something more challenging and that introduced me to my second love, branding.
I joined a marketing and ad agency called Creation Lab, I was thrown into the deep end with some projects where my skills got tested and refined.
I got introduced to a wide variety of design platforms and became more aware of how much design plays a big role in our daily lives.
Design has the power to make you trust or distrust a brand or company. Throughout your entire home, every single room has some form of design in it. Whether it be packaging, posters, decor, movies and even your phone, design is everywhere.
In 2020 I was fortunate enough to become a freelancer and after 9 almost 10 years, I have experienced a lot of industries in the graphic design field in a very short amount of time.
I love telling stories through design and seeing my designs interact with the world. Allow me to tell your story and journey with you as your brand and/or business grows.
